Off My Hinge

Role:

Executive Producer, Writer, Host

Project Description:

Off My Hinge is both a social experiment and comedy podcast which highlights the ways in which Gen- Z have redefined their use and expectations of  the dating app Hinge, during and post-pandemic. The podcast explores the archetypes of young daters who have emerged in New York City and other metropolitan areas as a result of these burdening social circumstances at the height of their youth and self-exploration. Each episode is enhanced by personal interviews with people Abigail had met and dated on Hinge herself as well as collected social research and data conducted by Abigail within the Gen Z demographic to undercover why Hinge was so consistently turned to and trusted as a social tool for Gen- Z. The show invites guests Abigail went on Hinge dates with over two years ago to gather their perspective on the exact same social interaction to challenge the stereotypes of our modern, transactional dating culture and to determine what they would do differently if they were to meet today.

Challenge:

Crafting Episodes to honestly feature personal ethnographic research through conversations and secondary research in a balanced, entertaining manner to create informative and humorous commentary on Gen Z dating culture and behaviours.

Outcome:

Over 13,000 Spotify streams in the first twenty-four hours upon release of first episode; Ted X Talk Invitation extended to increase reach of research and research findings.
